When the Review of the National Innovation System was released last month we thought it was worth talking about on our podcast. So Myself, Mike and Laurel hooked up, to be joined during the show by Kristin. I had created a aggregated feed around the topic using Yahoo Pipes and pimped it on Twitter andContinueContinue reading “venturousaustralia.com.au is go”

What colour are your words?
Found this neat site called Cymbolism that allows you to associate colour with words. It uses a ‘wisdom of crowds’ collaborative approach to indicate what the ‘mob’ considers the colour a word is. Very subjective a subject maybe, but fascinating and revealing nonetheless. http://www.cymbolism.com/ Dave
Watching ‘live coverage’ not ‘live stream’
How I watched the Apple “Lets Rock” event at 2.30AM laying in bed. *techcrunch using scribblelive *engadget with “refresh every” extension enabled *irc from #twitlive with user relay *oh…and twitter
Mark Pesce feed munger
After chasing all the places Mark Pesce chooses to write his missives, a tweet sent by @stilgherrian this morning asking Mark if he had a feed which gathers his writings from all the places it’s thrown spurred me on to creating one. So this evening I threw together a yahoo pipe of Mark’s feeds. GetContinueContinue reading “Mark Pesce feed munger”
Hyperlocal signals
Just documenting a very provisional thought. I’ve been wondering a lot lately about any connection (or overlap) between Linda Stone’s idea of a cultural swing back to the individual as centre of gravity, Mark Pesce’s ‘Hyper <everything> People” and Stowe Boyd’s recent beginning of /Ground. Something like “Hyperlocalism” perhaps that goes deeper, is individual, andContinueContinue reading “Hyperlocal signals”
Miscellaneous small thoughts loosley blogged
Photo: Kamyar Adl Some thoughts of recent, spurred on by many things. I had been thinking about returning to more ‘stream of conscious’ blogging but hadn’t got there – so it’s about time I did. But this might not be one of them. It used to be people blogged heaps….then something, or some things happened.ContinueContinue reading “Miscellaneous small thoughts loosley blogged”

Milton the Monster DNA
I have no idea what Mike’s up to but caught odd fragments via twitter while sitting in a cafe eating my lunch that he was doing some kitchen experingmenting with DNA and fruit. And a reference to Milton the Monster which I couldn’t help but respond to as Milton is a fondly remembered cartoon fromContinueContinue reading “Milton the Monster DNA”
Saturdays of Sheds, Junk and Cassette Tapes
So, I spent most all of today sorting, cleaning and tossing stuff out me shed. As part of the ruthless cull I packed away in a box over 100 cassette tapes that I hadn’t listened to for over 10 years…no over 15 probably. I’m giving them away. But of them there was some I justContinueContinue reading “Saturdays of Sheds, Junk and Cassette Tapes”

Welcome to Australia Beth
Was tracking Beth Kanter’s journey via Skype, Twitter Qik on her way to ConnectingUp 2008 Conference in Brisbane. Followed a Twitter on Sat afternoon that she was streaming live on Qik – unfortunately she quickly experienced the bottleneck that exists to any serious entry of Australia participating the Information Economy – our network access. ClickContinueContinue reading “Welcome to Australia Beth”
Pre Budget 2008 comment and photo for Advertiser Newspaper
Was asked to give comment pre-budget on what I wanted from the budget. I’m never good at the one-line message that newspapers seem to want, I have trouble encapsulating all my thoughts in a short space, so I rambled on a bit and they picked something out that I guess they thought relevant. The photographerContinueContinue reading “Pre Budget 2008 comment and photo for Advertiser Newspaper”

Eight Random Facts about Dave – meme
Following an old meme Laurel dredged up and tagged me, here’s eight random facts about me. The rules: 1- Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves. 2 – People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules. 3 – At theContinueContinue reading “Eight Random Facts about Dave – meme”
I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen dust – Womadelaide 2008
My first Womad experience was a memorable one. We nearly didn’t get in as the people at the ticket office were trying to tell us that my carer with me needed to have an ‘official’ carers card! I mean what the hell. My family carers for me, they don’t get paid, and yet aren’t official’ContinueContinue reading “I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen dust – Womadelaide 2008”
People don’t scale, People Networks do.
Cross posted from Lifekludger blog I read with interest my good mate, Hugo Ortega’s UberTablet blog. Hugo was the very first guest on our Extraordinary Everyday Lives podcast and, outside of my regular colleagues, has been the single biggest supporter of my Lifekludger endeavours, and indeed myself, in a substantial way – providing equipment toContinueContinue reading “People don’t scale, People Networks do.”

Trams, form and function.
Finally got a decent day and the right access to my boy and the right time to pay a visit to the Tram Museum on the weekend. Was a good day and it’s well worth a visit. I was struck by the four examples that were out and running on the day. Ranging from theContinueContinue reading “Trams, form and function.”
