Talk:Makers
From Lifekludger
Many "Makers" design or build "custom" solutions for individuals.
1. The best of these solutions can be scaled for commercial availability and reduced cost. We need a way to link good custom solutions to entities that can scale them. And, experts who can address the intellectual property issues (patents) so as to encourage commercialization.
2. A major source of "Makers" can be college engineering programs. For example, Princeton University's Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department has had student independent projects involving the design and build of such custom solutions. Perhaps organized outreach to such departments could (1) link interested faculty to the wiki, and (2) increase the number of interested faculty and projects.
Is there a searchable database of the devices/solutions themselves? Is that planned to be part of this wiki?
