Retro LED Watch
December 17th, 2005 | by dnw |This cool looking retro watch caught my attention the other day. It’s a watch with the old LEDs for the numbers that would give anyone old enough to remember the first calculators a warm glow inside them – c’mon, admit it!
The thought I had was how much easier it is to see this style display! Since the introduction and widespread use of LCD displays on these small devices it’s been harder to see them clearly – especially in bright or low light conditions. Remember the little backlight switch on LCD watches. What a feeble attempt to make LCDs readable in low light. Heck, my wheelchair employs LCD for speed display – and it’s bright – but get it in the sunlight and I haven’t a hope of seeing what setting it’s on! I might see about getting a LED conversion!
So, alright, I got sidetracked. My point about this watch was it’d be great for anyone with low vision or simply anyone who wants a digital watch but is sick of squinting to make out the time!
