Pin Clock – Feel your way

December 10th, 2005 | by dnw |

Now this I rekon is a doozy of a clock. Actually I must confess, I have a fascination with clocks. I’m a semi-collector of odd and unusual ones. (semi=I’m cheap).

Anyway, this pin clock I rekon would be great to use if you wake up in pitch dark and want to tell the time without putting the light on. You could just reach out and ‘feel’ the time.

It’d be good for blind or vision impaired folks who want a chic yet useable time piece.

Here’s a description:

The face of the pin clock is made up of 3,000 pins arranged side by side. As time passes, a precision engineered mechanism lifts and retracts selected pins to display hours and minutes.

The inspiration behind the pin clock comes from the popular toy that uses moving pins to make an impression of one’s hand or face.
